Rain, storms expected on Election Day

Election Day is gearing up to be a wet one in 2026 due to a storm system that will enter Arkansas Monday afternoon and sweep across the state through Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock says voters should consider grabbing an umbrella or poncho before heading out to the polls, especially come Tuesday.

Isolated to severe thunderstorms will be possible across the state Tuesday, with the primary concern being gusty winds that accompany the stronger storms.

The Arkadelphia area forecast is calling for a 100% chance of showers Tuesday. After a round of possible showers on Monday, the precipitation will likely set in  tonight. On Election Day, showers and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon, with wind gusts as high as 20 mph.

New rainfall amounts between 1-2 inches will be possible Tuesday.

Sunny skies will return Wednesday and persist throughout the week.

Temperature-wise, Tuesday night will be much cooler, with a low around 46. Highs this week will be in the mid-70s. Nighttime lows will be in the low 40s through at least Friday, when nightly temps will fall into the upper 30s.
