Dry and warm conditions are expected to continue through the middle of next week across Arkansas, with many locations approaching record high temperatures and a few locations tying or breaking records, the National Weather Service in Little Rock said in its latest cycle of weather-related announcements.
In nearby Mount Ida, the mercury will top out at 91 both Tuesday and Wednesday — nearing records in the mid-90s set in 2024 and 2015. In the Northwest Arkansas city of Harrison, Tuesday’s high is expected to surpass the 1899 record of 90 degrees for Oct. 13, and in Central Arkansas, Little Rock’s high Wednesday will match the 2015 record.
Expect above normal afternoon temperatures through Thursday, Oct. 15. Later this week, a cold front is expected to move across the state and increase chances for precipitation and cooler temperatures.
The forecast for the Arkadelphia area calls for daytime highs in the low 90s through Thursday, with temperatures dipping to a pleasant 79 on Friday. Nightly lows will fluctuate in the 60s.
Expect clear skies for much of the week, with some clouds forming Tuesday ahead of a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon.
It’s still incredibly dry. Burn bans remain across all of South Arkansas. The entire state remains under a high risk of wildfire danger.
