In April, Arkansans disposed of more than 50,000 pounds of unwanted medications on Arkansas Drug Take Back Day. People will once again have an opportunity to discard their old prescriptions and other unused medications on Saturday, October 24.

To date, the Arkansas Drug Take Back initiative has destroyed 367 tons of medications, preventing misuse of potentially harmful drugs and helping protect Arkansas families and waterways.

The Arkansas Drug Take Back website educates Arkansans on how to monitor, secure and safely dispose of medications they no longer want or need. More than 300 permanent drop boxes are available for year-round disposal, but Arkansas Drug Take Back Day offers a unique opportunity for communities across all 75 counties to unite around one shared goal.

We invite Arkansans to clean out their medicine cabinets and join us October 24 to help prevent prescription drug misuse, protect our neighbors and save Arkansas lives.

There are local collection bins in the lobby of the Arkadelphia Police Department, 514 Clay St., as well as in the sally port of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, 406 S. 5th St. Note that the APD lobby is open during regular business hours Monday through Friday.
