Dispatch Desk: Police probe 2 reports of car theft on North 10th Street

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed Aug. 10-16, 2026, at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Arrested or cited individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names, so don’t even think about asking. 

Arkadelphia Police Department

Monday, Aug. 10

7:27 p.m.
An Ashbury Court woman reported the theft of a bicycle from her porch. The bike was described as a blue Huffy, and she showed police a photo of a subject from her doorbell camera whom she suspicioned may have taken the bicycle.

Tuesday, Aug. 11

2:12 p.m.
A C Street man reported someone, likely a known suspect, had pilfered $21 from his bank account over the course of nine transactions to a CashApp account.

7:41 p.m.
Police were called to the 200 block of North 13th Street near First Presbyterian Church, where a caller advised someone had fallen on the sidewalk. Officers arrived to find a motionless and unresponsive Darrell Barnett, 63, who opened his eyes and responded when called by name. Unable to sit up or stand without assistance, Barnett was taken into custody for public intoxication. A search of his person yielded a synthetic cannabinoid presumed to be K2, as well as a bag containing a brown leafy substance, both of which were collected as evidence.

Felony incident still under investigation: Theft of a motor vehicle, 1500 block of North 10th Street

Wednesday, Aug. 12

10:04 a.m.
Police were called to a commercial garage at 1320 N. 10th St. for a complaint that someone using the air compressor had damaged the garage bay door when leaving the establishment, driving away north on 10th Street. Security footage showed the incident and suspect vehicle. Police were able to name the vehicle’s registered owner, though further review of the footage would be needed to ascertain that the owner was driving.

11:53 a.m.
A North 10th Street man reported someone fraudulently transferred $165 from his Chime account. He was able to provide police with a name of the suspect from bank records, but said he did not know him personally.

3:05 p.m.
A Welch Street woman reported buying an iPhone online from Straight Talk, only to discover that it was returned to the sender in Indiana prior to receipt. A refund from the company required a police report to be filed.

9:41 p.m.
Officers were called to Twin Rivers Health & Rehabilitation, where administration reported one male resident struck another in the head with his cane. The victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Thursday, Aug. 13

Friday, Aug. 14

4:10 p.m.
Police were called to Nightingale Nursing Home, where a resident reported she was missing about $40 in cash. It was unclear whether she spent the money and didn’t recall doing so, or if it was lost or stolen.
