Heat and dry conditions return for days ahead

Temperatures and heat index values are expected to climb heading through the weekend into early next week, peaking in intensity on Monday and Tuesday, July 20-21. The National Weather Service in Little Rock is cautioning Arkansans to plan accordingly for dangerous heat.

Upper-level high pressure will build into the region over the coming days, and chances for scattered rain will decrease each day. Temperatures should climb well into the 90s with some locations possibly reaching 100 degrees. Heat index values are expected to range from 100-110 degrees.

Arkadelphia’s extended forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies through at least Thursday, July 23, with daily highs topping out in the mid to upper 90s and nighttime lows in the low 70s.

As for any chance of a breeze, the forecast says the best you’ll get is occasional “calm winds.”
