Billy Ross Clingan, age 78 of Arkadelphia, passed away at Nightingale VA home on Friday, July 10, 2026.

He was born on June 27, 1949 in Arkadelphia, the son of Bobbie Jean and Clayburn Ross (Rab) Clingan.

Bill had a passion for cars that he indulged in by restoring older-model vehicles, even learning to upholster. A jack-of-all-trades, he loved learning and working with his hands, taking up different hobbies and studying new subjects over the years. Disabled later in life, he continued his love of learning by reading voraciously.

Bill served his country, honorably, in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1969 – 1972, and during another tour from 1976- 1980. He worked for the Federal Government and later for Boeing in Mesa, Arizona.

He married his sweetheart and loyal partner, Carole, on September 17, 1976. Together they raised a number of well-spoiled dogs.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carole, of Mesa, Arizona; a sister, Jane Meador (Vernie); niece, Jennifer Purinton (Spencer) and great-nephew, Jackson Purinton, all of El Dorado, Arkansas.

A Memorial Service will be held at Anchor Baptist Church on Arkansas Highway 51 North, Brown Springs, Arkansas on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:00am. Dr. Caleb Louis will be officiating.
