Arkadelphia High School FFA will hold a one-day Mattress Sale on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Goza Middle School cafeteria, 140 Badger Lane, to help send 10 students and two chaperones to the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis in October.
Advisor Sammy Cox said the trip gives students a chance to experience FFA on a national scale, build leadership skills, explore careers and meet members from across the country. They will attend sessions, hear speakers, tour a large career expo with colleges and businesses, and take part in activities that open doors beyond high school.
Although FFA began in agriculture, agricultural education now includes science, technology, veterinary medicine, engineering, business, education, communications and entrepreneurship.
Students see the trip as more than a convention. Trey Flores, Arkadelphia FFA junior advisor, believes being part of the FFA has helped him become prepared for his future career. He said, “Being a part of the Arkansas FFA has taught me the skills required to become a better leader both inside the organization and in life. I’ve had the opportunity to explore career ready skills such as the practical knowledge and experience can be utilized for becoming an electrician upon graduation. I look forward to furthering my knowledge in these areas throughout the rest of my high school career and the future.”
“I am most excited to meet new people, experience new things, and see things we don’t get to see at state convention,” said Madi Nolan, Arkadelphia FFA vice president. “Going matters to me because it will be a fun new experience and a chance to learn more.”
Jason Blakeney, secretary, wants to make connections and bring ideas home. “I am excited to make new connections and learn things I didn’t know before to bring back to my chapter,” he said.
Isabelle Hasley, treasurer, values the lasting skills. “I think a skill that will stick with me from being in FFA is being able to talk to anyone I meet with knowing how to start a good conversation,” she said.
The sale features Purple, Helix, Sealy, and Tempur-Pedic mattresses in multiple sizes and types, priced below typical showroom rates. Educators, military members, and first responders receive extra discounts. Financing options include no-credit-check and 0% APR plans for those who qualify.
Last year’s sale raised about $1,000; this year the chapter hopes for $5,000–$6,000.
