Melvin Darrell Freeman (Son, Bill) aged 88, died at Twin Rivers Nursing Home in Arkadelphia on Monday, June 29, 2026. He was born November 23, 1937, in Curtis to Hugh and Ruby Harkrider Freeman. He was the third of eight children.
He was retired from the Navy, a Vietnam Veteran and a longtime Lion’s Club Member. He lived for many years in Evening Shade, south of Hope.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife, Ginny Stanton Freeman, three sisters, Hughlene Barham, Shirley Scott and Mary Hughes. One brother, Charles Freeman, and a stepson, Ross Fredericks.
He is survived by two sisters, Gloria Holcomb of Bella Vista and Janye Coe of Joan. One brother, Tommy Freeman of Friendship. One daughter-in-law, Teresa Fredericks of Kapoli, Hawaii and two sons, Gary and Aurelia Fredericks of Vancouver, Washington and Jack and Sue Fredericks of Pacifica, California. He was blessed with a host of nieces and nephews and a special neighbor, Renee.
There will be a memorial service announced at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brazzell /Oakrest Funeral Home in Hope. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery near Curtis.
