The weather outside will be frightful this week due to hazardous heat and humidity, the National Weather Service in Little Rock says.
Temperatures across Arkansas will soar into the lower to mid 90s around the middle and latter part of the upcoming work week. The combination of this being the first prolonged period of temperatures of 90 degrees or above and dewpoints of around 70 degrees or above will make it misery to be outside for long periods of time.
Those who work outside will need to take frequent breaks to stay hydrated, and pets and the elderly should be checked on frequently.
Arkadelphia’s extended forecast June 8-14 is calling for daytime highs in the low 90s each day through Friday under mostly sunny skies, and nighttime lows in the mid 70s under mostly clear skies.
Heat index values Monday and Tuesday will be as high as 99 degrees. Relative humidity will be as high as 90% in coming days.
The next chance for rainfall comes Thursday evening.
