HOT SPRINGS — A free monthly educational series focused on menopause and women’s midlife health will continue Tuesday, June 23, at The Muses Cultural Arts Center in Hot Springs, with sessions scheduled through December.
Hosted by the Muses Creative Artistry Project, the Women’s Focus Group, for midlife health education meets, from 4 to 6 p.m. monthly at 428 Orange St. The sessions are open to women throughout the Hot Springs area, along with spouses, partners, and family members interested in learning more about menopause and midlife wellness.
The discussions are led by Dr. Mandy Rice, DO, MSCP, of Direct Integrative Health of Hot Springs and Mandy Burton, FNP-C, APRN, MSCP, of Eden Health Rx, both certified menopause practitioners specializing in women’s midlife care.
Topics throughout the series include perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause, hormone changes, symptom management, mental health, nutrition, pelvic floor therapy, and related wellness concerns. Sessions also incorporate perspectives from specialists in urogynecology, dietetics, patient advocacy, and holistic wellness.
Rice said the series was created to help address a widespread lack of menopause education and awareness.
“Research shows that 94% of women report receiving no education about menopause, despite more than 1 billion women worldwide currently navigating this transition,” Rice said. “These conversations are important not only for women, but also for husbands, partners, sons, and loved ones who want to better understand how to support the women in their lives.”
Burton said many women delay seeking treatment even when symptoms significantly affect daily life.
“Women can spend nearly 40% of their lives in menopause, yet many wait months before seeking help,” Burton said. “Providing education and open conversation helps women understand that effective treatment and support are available.”
Admission is free. Upcoming sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, June 23; Tuesday, July 21; Tuesday, Aug. 18; Tuesday, Sept. 22; Tuesday, Oct. 20; Tuesday, Nov. 17; and Tuesday, Dec. 15. For more information, visit Direct Integrative Health of Hot Springs on Facebook.
