Heroin, fentanyl top Group 6 drug seizures in 2025

Throughout 2025 Group 6 Narcotics Enforcement Unit opened 315 new cases and closed 222 with arrests covering the areas of Grant, Clark and Hot Spring counties.

Drugs seized included over 4 1/2 pounds of heroin and over 12 1/2 ounces of Fentanyl. Fentanyl is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more powerful than morphine. According to DEA statistics as little as 2 milligrams of Fentanyl can be lethal and the amount seized by Group 6 in 2025 could have potentially caused almost 180,000 overdoses.

Other drugs seized included over 30 1/2 pounds of cocaine and over 5 1/2 ounces of crack; almost 55 pounds of methamphetamine ICE and over 80 1/2 pounds of marijuana. The task force seized almost 28,000 prescription pills with over 16,000 of those pills being opioids along with almost 650 bottles of promethazine. Other illegal substances seized included ecstasy, LSD, over a pound of psilocybin, over 300 THC vapes and 5 pounds of THC wax and crystal.

The task force also seized over 100 items of paraphernalia and 124 guns (three of which were stolen weapons), executed 50 search warrants, and recovered numerous items of stolen property that included a motorcycle, four-wheeler and sets of new tires.

The task force has been in continuous operation since 1991 and currently has 6 officers with a combined experience of over 130 years. Their many years of experience allow hosting of classes and trainings for other officers including crimes against children to safety and search techniques. The agents have been instrumental in solving numerous crimes from homicides to burglaries.
