10:38 p.m.
Officers were called to 13th and Henderson streets for a report of someone yelling and a possible protection order violation. Upon arrival to the area Officer Jake Voss noted a vehicle matching the given description, and what appeared to have been an accident. When Voss activated his blue lights, the suspect drove away; a brief pursuit ended at 401 N. 13th St., where contact was made with the driver, Marcus Thomas Horton, 34, of Okolona. Refusing to provide a driver’s license, Horton was advised that he was under arrest for obstruction of governmental operations, and pulled away several times as Voss was cuffing him. Advised that he would be tasered if he continued resisting, Horton continued pulling his arms away. Voss performed a drive stun to his left hip, which had no effect. Voss then twice kneed Horton behind the knee as other officers arrived and assisted in the arrest. A wrecker was called to tow Horton’s vehicle away, but due to damages to steering components the vehicle couldn’t be towed. Police then spoke with a Logan Street woman who relayed that Horton had struck her parked utility trailer and drove away from the scene. Horton was taken to jail on police charges of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, fleeing, obstruction of governmental operations, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.
