Dispatch Desk: Trucker found dead in parking lot

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed Jan. 19 through Feb. 1, 2026, at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Arrested or cited individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names, so don’t even think about asking.

A lost dealership license plate belonging to Car Mart in Malvern was reported by phone, with the location believed to be in Arkadelphia. The complainant called later to advise that the tag had been located.

Sunday, Jan. 24

An officer took a delayed report of domestic violence. No arrest was made.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

Officers were notified of an unattended death at 1103 N. 26th St. The deceased was a 56-year-old female who was on dialysis and had other medical problems. The coroner was notified.

Friday, Jan. 30

10:15 a.m.
At the request of his employer, police were called to conduct a welfare check on a truck driver whose last known location was Atwoods, 2626 Caddo St. Upon arrival officers observed the semi-truck parked and idling at the east end of the lot. A knock at both vehicle doors got no response. An Atwoods employee said the driver had delivered several lawn mowers the previous evening and had requested permission to rest in the parking lot. Another check of the vehicle revealed the driver, a 73-year-old Mountain View man, had died in the truck. The coroner was notified, as were investigators. A preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play.

Monday, Jan. 19

5:59 p.m.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle was reported at Neels Corner Road. The complainant called later to report the vehicle had been returned. 

Tuesday, Jan. 20

10 a.m.
A man reported being harassed by a known female.

4 p.m.
An Open Banks Road man reported the theft of a yellow Belshe heavy duty trailer by a known suspect who had rented it for one day in May but had yet to return it.

Thursday, Jan. 22

8:34 p.m.
A deputy patrolling Highway 8 observed a swerving eastbound motorist and attempted a traffic stop at Rest Haven Cemetery, but the driver fled. The suspect continued to Unity Road, where he continued to DeGray Road. The pursuit zig-zagged on county roads back to Highway 8, then east to Skyline Drive where the suspect brake-checked the deputy. Arkansas State Police, as well as Amity and Pike County deputies were requested for assistance. The pursuit ended near Kirksey Road following a felony take-down by deputies and a State Trooper. The driver, Nathan Stockslager-Wheat, 34, of Glenwood, was arrested without further incident. A search of Stockslager-Wheat’s vehicle revealed multiple containers of marijuana and paraphernalia. He was arrested on initial charges of fleeing, possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possessing an instrument of crime.

Friday, Jan. 23

6:17 p.m.
A report of a stolen pickup truck at 3135 Country Club Rd. prompted a multi-agency search for the vehicle. The truck had not been located at the time the report was written.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

2:50 a.m.
A Highway 53 South woman reported her mailbox had been damaged overnight.
