Clark County was among several entities in the state named as a recipient of funding through the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s 2025 Recreational Trails Program (RTP).
Clark County is set to receive $168,000 for the Phase II design of the Clark County Regional Trail.
For 2025, ARDOT announced a total of seven RTP projects were awarded for a total of more than $1.78 million.
The RTP is funded through a portion of Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funds set aside specifically for recreational trails. These funds are eligible for maintenance and restoration of existing trails, development and rehabilitation of trailside and trailhead facilities and trail linkages, and construction of new trails.
Clark County has been the recipient of other ARDOT funding in recent years for design and construction of a regional trail system that, once complete, will connect the City of Arkadelphia’s existing trail system to trails at DeGray Lake, via Caddo Valley.
In 2023 the county learned it would receive a $499,000 TAP grant for construction of the first phase of the trail system. ARDOT announced in December 2024 that Clark County would receive a $500,000 TAP grant for the trail.
County Judge Troy Tucker did not respond to a text message inquiry sent last week when ARDOT made its announcement about the latest round of funding.
