The state income tax filing deadline is being extended to Dec. 3 for Arkansans who submit proper paperwork, the Department of Finance and Administration announced Tuesday.

Following natural disasters across the state this spring, the governor issued executive orders extending the income tax deadline for Arkansans in all 75 counties from Apr. 15 to July 31. Because of ongoing effects of the disasters, some Arkansans will be unable to meet the July 31 deadline, according to a DFA news release

The IRS has extended the federal tax deadline for Arkansans to Nov. 3. Under state law, the affected taxpayers are also granted a one month extension from the federal tax deadline to file their state income tax return.

The new Dec. 3 deadline for state income taxes includes 2024 returns of Individuals, Subchapter S corporations, C corporations, pass-through entities, fiduciaries and estates, partnerships, and composite returns, according to the state finance department.

Penalties will not apply for returns that are filed by Dec. 3. However, due dates for any estimated tax payments are not extended and must be paid when due to avoid penalties and interest, according to the state agency.

Individuals and entities in all 75 counties are eligible for the state income tax deadline extension. Taxpayers must attach the notice from the IRS granting the federal extension due to the disaster (AR-2025-03) or check the federal extension box on the return.
