Clark County’s unemployment rate takes dip

Clark County’s unemployment rate for March 2025, not seasonally adjusted, is at 4.2%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.

According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 9,508 persons with 9,104 employed and 404 unemployed. The unemployment fell eight-tenths of a percentage point from 5% reported in February. In that month the labor force grew by 58 from 9,450 persons. Clark County had the fourth-highest jobless rate among each of its six neighboring counties.

In the southeastern corner of the state, Desha County (Arkansas City) held the highest jobless rate in the state, with 6.7% of its 4,051 employable population without jobs. On the opposite corner of the state, Benton County (Springdale) reported the lowest unemployment rate in Arkansas, with 2.9% of its labor force of 166,194 without jobs.

Statewide, Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained at 3.7% in April, the same as the previous month. There were 1.3y million Arkansans employed in April. The U.S. unemployment rate also remained unchanged from the previous month, at 4.2%. An estimated 7.1 million Americans were unemployed in April.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) fell to 4%, compared to 4.6% the previous month. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,689 persons with 107 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) fell to 3.8%, compared to 4.4% the previous month. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,361 persons with 509 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) fell to 4.4%, compared to 5.4% the previous month. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 3,008 persons with 131 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) fell to 5.1%, compared to 5.7% the previous month. Nevada County reports a labor force of 2,463 persons with 126 unemployed.

The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) fell to 3.7%, compared to 4.3% the previous month. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,295 persons with 161 unemployed.
