A truck driver perished in a fiery collision on Arkansas Highway 9 in Hot Spring County.
The driver’s name was not listed in a preliminary fatal crash summary filed by Arkansas State Police. According to the report, a 2005 Mack CL was traveling north on Highway 9, about 2 1/2 miles south of Malvern’s city limits, when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck a driveway culvert at 14194.
The vehicle went airborne and struck several trees before landing in an upright position, then catching fire and becoming fully engulfed while the driver and sole occupant remained inside.
The body was transported to the Hot Spring County Coroner’s Office, and authorities notified the deceased’s relatives.
Investigating state Trooper John Crow noted clear skies and dry roads at the time of the accident, which was recorded as 7:03 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025.
