Elaine Kneebone honored with Outstanding Lawyer-Humanitarian Award

Arkadelphia estate planning and elder law attorney Elaine Kneebone has been recognized for her long-term commitment to volunteer service in the Clark County community. The Arkansas Bar Foundation and the Arkansas Bar Association Awards Committee awarded her the Outstanding Lawyer-Humanitarian Award on Friday, April 11, 2025.

In 2006, Kneebone founded the Clark County affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and has served as its Affiliate Director on a volunteer basis for 19 years. This early literacy program mails a new book each month, free of charge, to children from birth to age 5, fostering a love of reading and preparing preschoolers for success in kindergarten.

While Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Foundation provides the framework for the program, local leaders are responsible for raising funds to cover the costs of books and postage, as well as promoting the program locally and registering children. It costs approximately $31 to provide books to one child for a year.

As of March 2025, the Clark County affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has delivered 111,864 books to 3,653 local preschoolers since its inception. Currently, the affiliate serves more than 725 children throughout Clark County.

The Clark County affiliate was among the first established in Arkansas. Today, children statewide under the age of five can register to receive books at www.imaginationlibrary.com. If you would like to donate or volunteer, please email imaginationlibrary@sbcglobal.net.
