Koy Katherine “Bettye” Stewart, age 86, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock. She was born April 17, 1938, in Sparkman, the daughter of the late Hardy and Berdena Nellie Wilson Brashier.
Bettye was a graduate of Sparkman High School. She worked as a seamstress at Levi’s and Hollywood Vassarette and also in housekeeping at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. Bettye was a member of South Fork Baptist Church. She enjoyed growing her plants and flower gardening in her free time.
Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John Calvin Cox, her second husband, John David Stewart, one sister, Emma Jean Scott, three brothers, Robert Brasher, Jimbo Brashier and Dallas “Bunk” Brashier.
Survivors are two sons, Anthony Gordon Cox of Arkadelphia and James Cox (Sheila Redfearn) of Gurdon, one step-daughter, Tammy Francis (Scott) of Gurdon, three grandchildren, Kelsie Cox Brewer (Trent) of Los Angeles, CA, Evan Cole Cox of Bentonville and Braden Cox of Hot Springs and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 4, 2024, at Welch Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time Monday at the funeral home.
