Michael John Carey, Sr., age 66, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Arkansas. He was born on April 27, 1958, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Edward Carey, Sr. and Mildred (Allensworth) Carey.
Michael, or Mike as he was affectionately called, loved to drive his log truck. He was a log hauler for many years and was a hard worker working for various logging companies and even his own, M.J. Carey Trucking.
Mike was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed racing, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and he loved his dogs, Shadow, Jumper, Casper and Bandit. He loved movies, especially old westerns, and listening to music, old country and rock.
On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Michael J. Carey went to join his family and friends in a new life in heaven. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Michael was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Carey; one sister, Pat Hasty, and one step-daughter, Stephanie Shell. He will be forever remembered by his three sons, Johnny Young (Lizzie), Michael Carey (Penny), and Shannon Ray; one brother, Jody Carey (Kathy); two step daughters, Jennifer Casteel and Brittany Clark; Special friend and caregiver of 10 years, Michelle Casteel; thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren; best friend Tia Lambert; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services were under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Graveside services and burial were held Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Philippi Cemetery in Bismark.
