75 fentanyl pills seized in Arkadelphia arrest

An Arkadelphia man faces felony charges for possessing drugs and firearms after agents found narcotics at his Deceiper Hill Road home.

Christopher Earnest Gray, 43, was arrested in early September 2024 following the execution of a search warrant by the Group 6 Drug Task Force. Agents had reportedly conducted “multiple” controlled buys from Gray.

During execution of the search warrant, Gray handed agents a pill bottle containing 75 individually packaged fentanyl pills, according to a report filed this week at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

In addition to the fentanyl, authorities located and seized nine firearms, 1.7 grams of methamphetamine and three sets of digital scales.

Gray was arrested at the scene and transported to the Clark County Detention Center, where he was held for continued detention awaiting police charges.

Fentanyl is the leading cause of drug poisoning deaths in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Fake prescription pills laced with fentanyl are usually shaped and colored to look like pills sold at pharmacies, like Percocet and Xanax. Known as “M30s”, fake prescription pills sold on the street routinely contain fentanyl. They are usually round tablets and often light blue in color.

The agent’s report describes the pills seized at Gray’s residence as blue M30 pills weighing a total of 8.3 grams.

In Clark, Hot Spring and Grant counties the Group 6 Narcotics Enforcement Unit seized 4.5 grams of fentanyl — reportedly enough to cause 21,000 fatal overdoses — during the agency’s 2023-24 fiscal year.

Formal charges are pending and will be determined by the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
