In a special-called meeting, the Arkadelphia Board of Directors met briefly in executive session Monday, July 8, 2024, for the purpose of discussing personnel.
Upon reconvening in public 10 minutes later, the school board voted 5-0 for the following recommended hirings:
Jonathan Spenser, assistant band director, AHS
Larry Brown, head band director, AHS
Spenser’s 215-day contract begins July 15; Brown’s 240-day contract began July 1.
In the same meeting the board also gave approval for the resignation of Ryan Wilkerson, who was assistant band director; his resignation took effect immediately. Wilkerson joined Arkadelphia Public Schools in 2022.
Classified staff hires included Tierra Buchanan and Haydon Helms as paraprofessionals at Peake Elementary School, and Jordan Williams as bookkeeper/secretary at Peake.
Another resignation was Sidney Medley as middle school math teacher at Goza.
Without further discussion the meeting was adjourned.
