Dispatch Desk: May 6-12

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Arkadelphia Police Department

Sunday, May 5
1:14 p.m.
Management at Atwoods reported that a shoplifter who previously stole a pair of Milwaukee impact drivers returned to the store and took two 2-packs of lithium battery packs to power the tools. The merchandise was valued at $549. This time the suspect drove away in a blue Ford F-150 pickup truck.

10:45 p.m.
Officers responded to an altercation between neighbors at a South 11th Street apartment complex. The parties agreed to avoid each other.

Monday, May 6
Officers investigated a breaking or entering and theft of property at a residence on the 2500 block of Country Club Road. No details were included in the report as felony cases are not available for public inspection at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

Tuesday, May 7
4:08 p.m.
While patrolling the 200 block of North 23rd Street an officer observed where an oversized vehicle had left the scene of where it struck a utility line, causing extensive damage to a home’s siding and causing a power outage there.

Wednesday, May 8
8:30 a.m.
A C Street man reported someone poisoned his 250 tomato plants, valued at $5 apiece; the responding officer noted the plants were wilted and yellowing.

Thursday, May 9
Juvenile: Disorderly Conduct, school bus

4:40 p.m.
The theft of a Hyper Tough push lawnmower from a carport was reported at a Cutler Street residence.

7:28 p.m.
A woman reported almost being duped by a phone scam. The fraudster claimed to represent Amazon and said she owed $5,000 for a computer she didn’t buy; he would phone her back within 24-48 hours with further instructions. Meanwhile she withdrew the funds but later told her husband about the call, and he flagged it as a scam. Police advised her to inform the Attorney General’s Office of the scam.

Friday, May 10
11:19 a.m.
Colby Joshua Frisby, 38, of El Dorado, was cited at 11th and Caddo streets for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop for expired temporary tags. An odor of marijuana led to a search of the vehicle, which yielded 1.4 grams of marijuana and a clear pipe.

1:05 p.m.
A woman reported falling victim to a phone scam in which the fraudster convinced her she was past due on an Entergy bill, and that she needed to make an immediate payment at Walmart with a money card. She was instructed to tell the clerk it was a personal payment. Once the $584 payment was processed the victim was instructed to remain in the parking lot until payment was confirmed. Once confirmed, the fraudster tried unsuccessfully to convince her that the payment didn’t cover late fees.

Juvenile: Theft of Property, Walmart

Police investigated a forgery at the 300 block of North 10th Street. No details were included in the report as felony cases are not available for public inspection at the Arkadelphia Police Department.

Saturday, May 11
1:23 a.m.
Martha Evans, 47, of Arkadelphia, was arrested at 23rd and Crawford streets for public intoxication. Evans had requested police presence for a civil standby outside the city limits. Smelling of alcohol and asked to blow into a portable breathalyzer test, she failed four times to follow instructions.

2:31 p.m.
A Cypress Road man, aged 59, reported that a “small child” entered his apartment while he was away and stole a video game. He showed police footprints leading from the door to the room, but officers were unable to make out any footprints. The complainant said it wasn’t the first time the conniving tyke had burgled his residence.

Sunday, May 12
12:30 p.m.
A Pine Street woman reported her ex-husband spat on her. She was advised that a report would be on file.

4:45 p.m.
A Thompson Road woman reported receiving threatening calls and texts from a pair of known individuals. Police advised her to block the numbers and to call back if the threats continued.

Sunday, May 5
5:56 p.m.
A deputy was summoned to a report of residential burglary at a Central Road residence, where a female said someone had entered the home and took all of her ex-boyfriend’s belongings. The deputy spoke with the ex — an inmate at the jail — who said he’d given his relatives permission to remove his stuff.

Tuesday, May 7
3 p.m.
A Hopi Lane woman reported her Social Security number had been used in 2020 to borrow $1,533 from an online loan company, and that she was just now contacted about repayment for the loan.

Sunday, May 12
9:40 a.m.
A Gurdon man reported his vacant Thaxton Road residence had been burglarized, and provided game camera footage of the suspect kicking in the door and, later, removing items from the home.
