Severe weather possible Thursday night

An Enhanced Risk of severe weather is in place for the northwest half of Arkansas today, March 14. The region including Arkadelphia remains under a Slight Risk. Current projections say there is a 30% chance that severe weather could crop up in the area during the day.

Thunderstorms are expected to move into central and eastern Arkansas around 6 p.m. Thursday and continue into the overnight hours. For Arkadelphia, showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday night, then more activity after 1 a.m. Friday. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

While all severe weather hazards will be possible with these storms, the National Weather Service in Little Rock said damaging winds and very large hail are the primary concerns.

Heavy rainfall will also accompany the thunderstorm activity through Thursday night, with some local flash flooding possible.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are likely to continue into Friday morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunny skies will return to the area Saturday, with a slight chance of showers that evening.
