Leon Hathcoat

Billy Don “Leon” Hathcoat, age 70, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Hot Springs.  He was born September 2, 1953, in Emmett, the son of the late M.G. and Birdie Clark Hathcoat.  

Leon was a retired logger and a member of Whelen Baptist Church.  He enjoyed playing golf and duck hunting in his free time.  

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Rebecca Carter, infant sister, Virginia Hathcoat and one brother, David Hathcoat.

Survivors are his wife, Pam Harper Hathcoat of Gurdon, two daughters, Lori Rogers (Jeff) of Gurdon and Jennifer Thomas of St. Petersburg, FL, two sons, Toby Childres (Kristi) of Bismarck and Tyler Childres (Katy) of Gurdon, one brother, Danny Hathcoat of Gurdon, four sisters, Joyce Helms of Arkadelphia, Rita Roe (Danny) of Gurdon, Wonda Clark (Dickie Don) of Gurdon and Betty Calley (Randy) of  Sapulpa, OK, eleven grandchildren, Aubree Cole, Ashlee Stewart, Loren Pee, Jordan Jackson, Parker Rogers, Blaise Childres, Landon Rogers, Cooper Anderson, Brooklynn Rogers, Stella Childres and Kensley Childres, and one great-grandchild, Slade Pee. 

Funeral services were Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Beech Street Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Taylor and Bro. Rusty Jones officiating. Interment at Bethlehem Cemetery at Gurdon.

Pallbearers: Mike McKenzie, Miles McKenzie, Cooper Anderson, Mark Manning, Landon Rogers, Barry Dopson, Daniel Francis and Rusty Manning. 

Memorials may be made to Whelen Baptist Church or Bethlehem Cemetery Fund.
