James Edward Sparks, age 79, of Whelen Springs, passed away on Monday May 6, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent’s in Hot Springs. He was born on August 25, 1944, in Whelen Springs, the son of the late Floyd and Virgie Crain Sparks.

James was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing the guitar, and listening to the Hinsons.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda Sparks, daughter, Robin Malcom, three brothers, William Sparks, Jessie Paul Sparks, and Tommie Hayes, four sisters, Glenda Currey, Gloria Jean Sparks, Veda Dickson, and Verna Purifoy. 

James is survived by three sons, James Wesley Sparks of Lavaca, AR, John Paul Sparks (Brittney) of Whelen Springs, Robbie Fulton of Whelen Springs, three daughters, Stacey Sparks of Van Buren, AR, Mickey Teltow (Chris) of Arkadelphia, Liz Egger (Chris) of Prescott, one brother, Vendon Hayes of Clarksville, AR, twenty-two grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM on Friday May 10, 2024, at Rose Hill Sycamore with Bro. Mike White and Ryan Hooks officiating.

Pallbearers are James Wesley Sparks, John Paul Sparks, Ryan Hooks, Troy Hooks, Garrett Sparks, and Hunter Fulton. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Sparks, Hayden Sparks, J.D. Malcom, Chris Teltow, Chris Egger, and Toby Key.
