Doyle Wayne Malcom, 77, of Gurdon, was sentenced to 240 months, or 20 years, in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for the offense of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree in Clark County Circuit Court. Malcom appeared in Clark County Circuit Court with his attorney, Louis Loyd, on July 21 and entered a plea of no contest to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old male that he had been involved in home schooling in 2016.

In addition to the term of imprisonment, Circuit Judge Blake Batson ordered that Malcom be required to register as a sex offender and complete sex offender programming.

Malcom was arrested in May, 2022 following an investigation conducted by the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. Prior to his arrest Malcom had been employed at Prescott Public School District, where he retired as a school teacher.

Sheriff Jason Watson said, “We will continue to work together with Prosecuting Attorney Dan Turner to investigate and prosecute individuals who victimize children.” Watson added: “I’m pleased with the outcome of this case and the work of our investigators and everyone involved in the prosecution of this case. We take the safety of our children very seriously and will investigate every case thoroughly to ensure that those who offend children are held accountable for their conduct.”

Turner said, “Crimes that involve those who prey on children are the worst types of crime. We are committed to the prosecution of these difficult cases and will do everything we can to provide services and healing for victims and families in the wake of these horrible offenses.”

Following formal sentencing, Malcom was taken into custody by Watson for transport to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
