A flash flood emergency was issued Wednesday morning for parts of South Arkansas.
The National Weather Service in Shreveport issued the warning. The emergency and an associated flash flood warning remained in effect through 8:45 a.m.
At 6:06 a.m., emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 8 and 10 inches of rain have fallen.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
The flash flood emergency specifies Stamps, Buckner and extreme northeast Lafayette County.
“This is a particularly dangerous situation. Seek higher ground now!” the bulletin said.
