Nelson seeks election to SCAEC Board

Terry (T.J.) Nelson, Jr. announced he is seeking election to the South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative Board.

Nelson resides on a small cattle farm on Highway 51 North, Arkadelphia, in east Clark County. He is currently the Academic Advisor for Educational Talent Search at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. He served as Educational Talent Search Counselor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 2016-2021 and served as Assistant Director of Educational Talent Search at OBU from 2004-2016.

He is the founder and owner of DJ Last Minute Entertainment, founded in 2005. T.J. is a Board member of the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce, member of the Arkadelphia Downtown Committee and the Arkadelphia Rotary Club. He is a 2004 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and 1999 graduate of Arkadelphia High School. He is a member of the Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. Nelson was chosen as a 1998 Washington Youth Tour participant for South Central Electric, completed the Fast Track Small Business Entrepreneurial Program at Henderson State University in 2010, a Graduate of the Clark County Leadership Class III in 2011, a Boys and Girls Club Board Member from 2013-2015, member of the Arkansas Association of Student Assistance Programs, the Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. 

Nelson is the son of retired NFL football player Terry Nelson and the late Frances Eason-Nelson who served the Board of Directors of South Central Electric for 22 years. He is married to Shanea Nelson, Ph.D., and they have two children, Mary Grace and Emerie Frances.
