A single vehicle accident early Sunday morning in Kingsland, Arkansas, left a Fordyce woman dead.

According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary, a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 79 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a guardrail. The driver was identified as Rae Payne, 47, of Fordyce.

Payne was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Cleveland County coroner. Payne’s body was transported to Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.

The accident happened at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the Panther Creek crossing. Investigating Trooper Jimmy Plyler noted clear skies and dry road conditions in his report.
