Richard Lee Carter, age 94, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia.  He was born June 23, 1928, in Clark County, AR, the son of the late Richard Benthal and Eva Golden Carter.  

Richard was a retired shift supervisor with El Paso National Gas Company for thirty-three years.  He worked in maintenance at HSU for five years after his retirement.  Richard was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Arkadelphia.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Velma DeMoss.

Survivors are his wife, Ellen Graham Carter of Arkadelphia, one son, Terry Carter (Kathy) of Arkadelphia, one daughter, Janice Newsom (John) of Longview, TX, one brother, Ralph Carter of Pine Bluff, three grandchildren, Heather, Tiffany and Tilly, and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Louie Heard officiating.

The family will do a brief visitation following the graveside at Rest Haven.
