CADDO VALLEY — A Bismarck man accused of striking a woman with a dog leash and breaking a shelf over her faces felony charges in Clark County, Arkansas.
Austin Cole Steelman, 29, is charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threatening. According to an affidavit filed this week, Steelman was the aggressor in a domestic disturbance that took place in a cabin near the former Caddo Valley Landing fuel station/bait shop on Highway 7.
Caddo Valley Police Chief Aaron Collier was summoned to Cabin #4 and spoke to the victim, who relayed that Steelman had strangled her and slammed her head into a wall “several” times, and that he broke a plastic shelf over her body.
According to the victim’s statement to police, Steelman also struck her with a dog leash, leaving a welp on her leg.
Steelman was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. His bond was set at $35,000.
Steelman was also charged this month in Ouachita County for allegations that he stole a relative’s pickup truck in Bearden. The vehicle, reported stolen in February, was located a day later parked outside a Bryant hotel where Steelman had rented a room.
