David Jackson

David Lawrence Jackson, 44, of Bismarck, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023.  He was born on October 17, 1978 to David E. and Helen R. Jackson.

David was a 1997 graduate of Bismarck High School.   He served as the football team’s physical trainer/manager and was a three year letterman in basketball and baseball.  David was a member of Grace Bible Church in Hot Springs where he enjoyed running the sound board on Sunday mornings.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Gennievee Jackson and Bob and Becky Matthews, and his parents, David and Helen Jackson.

As an avid outdoorsman, David spent his falls in the woods or on the back porch with the smoker going and the Hogs on TV.  He surrounded himself with family and friends and found comfort in a good fire. David was employed by O’Conner Distributing for the past eight years. He cherished the relationships built with his co-workers and he always loved serving his clients in Clark County. David came with many titles, husband, dad, brother, uncle, poppa, but known to many as Bubba. As husband, he loved his wife deeply and treasured her dearly. As dad, his kids were his greatest treasure and he absolutely loved being with them.  As brother, David never missed more than a few days of communication and could carry on hours of conversation talking about absolutely nothing, but that was the special bond he and Matt shared. As uncle, he was known as Uncle Bubba and loved his nieces and nephews dearly. As poppa, David loved spending time with his granddaughter and nicknamed her mushroom.  As “Bubba” he was the best friend that many had but never referred to him as friend only brother.

David is survived by his wife, Laurell Taylor Jackson, four daughters Rebecca  (Seth) Roberts of Nashville, Jaysa Jackson of Magnolia, Emma Ruth and Kylie Ann of Bismarck, one son David Edward Jackson, one granddaughter Isabella Roberts of Nashville, one brother Matthew (Stephanie) Jackson of Morrilton, two uncles, Bobby (Lynn) Jackson of San Jose, California, Dale (Kay) Jackson of Little Rock, one aunt Bobbie (Matthews) Wright of Copperas Cove Texas; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia, with Mark Goad and Ron McNaughton officiating.

Interment will be in Free Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chance Burchfield, Matt Friley, Kevin Wright, Tracy Lowe, John Keeling, and John Williams.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Lowe, Mike Rucker, Ron McNaughton, Dan Gray, Jon Hill, and Joe Lau.
