A Nashville man died Wednesday in a head-on collision with another vehicle in Hempstead County.
The deadly accident happened at 8:07 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, on state Highway 278 near its junction with Highway 32 in Hope.
According to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary, Robert Chism, 59, of Nashville, was killed when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck a westbound Ford F-250 driven by 70-year-old Jerry Hillery of Prescott. Chism was driving a Chevrolet Silverado.
The crash happened under clear weather and dry road conditions, according to Trooper Trevor Dew, who investigated the accident.
Hillery was transported to Christus St. Michaels hospital in Texarkana for treatment to unlisted injuries, while Chism’s body was taken to UAMS hospital.
