ARKADELPHIA — The Henderson State Athletics Department posted its 12th consecutive academic term with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher this week when the Reddies’ 450-plus student-athletes recorded a 3.17 GPA for the fall 2022 semester.

For the second semester in a row, 12 of the Reddies’ 14 intercollegiate athletic program carried team GPAs of 3.0 or better.

“The academic success of our student-athletes has become a staple of what we do here at Henderson State,” Director of Athletics Shawn Jones said. “While this kind of scholastic excellence has become a standard of our department, results like these don’t happen by accident. I am incredibly proud of the commitment our young women and men put into their academic studies, and I am also deeply appreciative of the support they receive from our coaches, faculty and staff here at Henderson.”

The Reddies have now recorded a departmental GPA of 3.0 or better in every academic term since the spring of 2017. The women’s golf program had the highest overall team GPA with a mark of 3.86, while the baseball program led the way for Henderson’s men’s teams with a 3.34.

In total, 78 Henderson State student-athletes were named to the Honor’s List and an additional 55 earned Dean’s List recognition in the fall.
