RUSSELLVILLE — For the second week in a row, junior Nathan Cossement was named the Great American Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. Prior to the 2022 fall season, the two-time Golfer of the Week recipient had not received the weekly honor.
At the MSSU Fall Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday, Cossement paced the Reddies with an even-par 216 to finish seventh overall at the 100-player event. As a team, Henderson shot a 10-under 278 on the final round to finish in a tie for first with No. 19 Missouri-St. Louis before getting edged out in the playoff hole.
Through six rounds of competition this season, the Wavre, Belgium native has posted four sub-par showings, including a career-low 7-under 65 as a part of HSU’s 10-under 278 final round at the MSSU Fall Invite. Cossement’s 65 is tied for the third lowest single round for a par 72 course in program history.
Henderson State has played two tournaments this season, getting first in the season-opening NSU Golf Classic before tying for first in Monkey Island, Oklahoma. Next up for the men is the annual Battle for the Belt, hosted by HSU at Hot Springs Country Club Oct. 3-4.
