3 arrested for Lark Place robbery

Authorities have named one suspect who was arrested in connection with a Dec. 30 robbery that ultimately left two people dead at an Arkadelphia apartment complex. Two others are juveniles and have not yet been named, although they are expected to be charged as adults.

Javion Lameer Sims, 18, of Hot Springs, was arrested on Jan. 6 by officers with the Arkadelphia Police Department. Sims and a juvenile were arrested that day and held on police charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated residential burglary.

A second juvenile was taken into custody on Jan. 9 for the same offenses.

According to Clark County Prosecutor Dan Turner, the arrests resulted from an ongoing investigation into an incident occurring at Lark Place Apartments in Arkadelphia on the evening of Friday, Dec. 30, 2022.

Two people died from gunshot wounds as a result of the incident. They have been identified as Quartez “Dada” Barton, 24, and Ayden Hendricks, 16. Both Barton and Hendricks were from Arkadelphia.

Sims and the two minor individuals all appeared before Clark County Judge Blake Batson on Monday for first appearances. Bond was set for Sims and the minor arrested on January 6 at $75,000 plus electronic monitor with house arrest, random drug screens and no contact orders with the victim. Bond for the minor taken into custody on Jan. 9 was set at $50,000 plus electronic monitor with house arrest, random drug screens and no contact orders with the victim. The second juvenile has since been released on bond.

Turner advised the court that the state intended to charge all of the individuals involved as adults in the criminal division of the Clark County Circuit Court. All three suspects were given future court dates of Feb. 7 for arraignment.

Turner has yet to file formal charges against any of the suspects. He said in a press release Tuesday that “this matter and related events continue to be under investigation by the Arkadelphia Police Department and Arkansas State Police with the assistance of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.”
