Cary Layne Butters was born in Hannibal, Missouri, on November 8, 1958. A little less than five years ago, Cary was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and he decided that he was going to muster up all the courage he had to fight the disease as long as he could. With friends and family at his side, Cary battled as long as he could, and on July 30th, 2022, he went to be with his Savior at the age of 63.
Cary didn’t know a stranger, and he loved deeply with sincere appreciation of every person in his circle sparing no sentiments. His friends and family, and his Cubs, were his greatest treasures. And there wasn’t a dog he owned that didn’t become the center of his universe.
Cary is preceded in death by his father, David Butters; his mother, Shirley McLain; his stepfather, Paul McLain; and his brother, Marty Butters.
He is survived by his brother, Richy Butters and wife Arlene, as well as his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Wes Robbins, daughter and son-in-law Jodie and Garett Scanlan and his three grandsons, Malachi, Blake and Grayson. He also leaves behind endless friends he called family and his sweet dog, Pip.
We will celebrate the life of Cary Butters on Friday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rockport, Texas, located a 1515 North Live Oak Street.
In place of sending flowers, we invite you to make a donation to the International Myeloma Foundation, 4400 Cold Water Canyon Ave, Ste 300, Studio City, CA 91604.
