Medical pot sales a little higher in June

CADDO VALLEY — Local medical marijuana sales were up in June, according to the state’s Department of Finance and Administration.

Enlightened Cannabis for People, which opened in July 2020 as one of the state’s 40 allowed dispensaries, sold 26.32 pounds of medical marijuana in June. The dispensary sold 23.56 pounds in May.

A total of 3,926 pounds of pot were purchased in Arkansas in June. Medical marijuana patients spent $22.29 million last month. The top sales from June happened at Sherwood’s Natural Relief Dispensary, at 388 pounds sold while The Releaf Center in Bentonville followed with 313 pounds.

In 2021, Enlightened contributed to 227 pounds of the total 40,347 pounds sold in Arkansas, according to information from DFA.

Statewide sales for the first five months of 2022 total 23,521 pounds.

“On average, patients in Arkansas are spending $22.37 million each month to purchase 3,920 pounds of medical marijuana,” said Scott Hardin, spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. “State tax revenue generated from medical marijuana totaled $32.12 million in Fiscal Year 2022 (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022). The state’s 38 dispensaries sold 23,521 pounds of medical marijuana through the first six months of 2022.”

The Arkansas Department of Health reports 84,472 active patient cards.
