Senate candidate Crowell talks at local event

At a recent candidate meet and greet hosted by Clark County Farm Bureau, those running for political office were invited to introduce themselves and discuss their platform.

There are two Republicans running in the May primary election for Arkansas Senate District 03 — Charles Beckham, the incumbent from McNeil, and Steve Crowell, of Magnolia.

Beckham was elected to the Arkansas Senate in 2020. He was not in attendance at the candidate forum.

Arkansas Senate District 3 includes all of Clark, Nevada, Columbiia and Lafayette counties, as well as portions of Pike, Hot Spring and Hempstead counties.

Crowell is an alderman on the Magnolia City Council. A conservative with Christian beliefs, Crowell said the district should have more representation by someone who will show up to town hall meetings and public events in order to understand the constituency.

Crowell said he wants to see to it that broadband internet is available in “every corner of the state.” He is also a supporter of law enforcement.
