Man dies from gunshot wound

An out-of-state man died Wednesday in Arkadelphia after suffering gunshot wounds, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

Arkadelphia Police Chief Jason “Shorty” Jackson said in a press release that at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, a male subject was dropped off at the emergency room of Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia “suffering from gunshot injuries.” Jackson said the man died as a result of those injuries and was identified as a resident of Milwaukee, Wisc.

Police are withholding the victim’s name until his family has been notified.

Local law enforcement have identified what they’re calling a “person of interest” and “at this time it is believed no other persons are in danger in this area.”

The Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact Sgt. Dustin O’Brien, criminal investigator, at (870) 246-4545.
