AFD responds to scrapyard fire

The Arkadelphia Fire Department responded Monday to what was reported as a “large fire” at L&W Recycling, 355 Walnut St.

At 3:45 p.m., dispatchers notified firefighters of the blaze, which broke out in a grassy area adjacent to the scrapyard. A fire that was intentionally set to burn debris there apparently got out of hand, prompting the response of the fire department. The fire did not affect the operation of the business.
