RUSSELLVILLE — Freshman running back Isaac Edwards has been named the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week after aiding the Ouachita Baptist University football team to a 64-17 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State this past Saturday.
Edwards, a backup running back for the Tigers, carried the ball 21 times for 190 rushing yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s win over the Rangers. It was a career-high day in all categories for the Hawkins, Texas native.
His average of just over nine yards per carry was helped by a 72-yard touchdown rush late in the fourth quarter when Ouachita was running the clock out on a big Homecoming victory.
Overall, the Tigers ran for 442 yards, accounting for almost all of their 516 yards of total offense.
Edwards and the Tigers make their longest road trip of the season this Saturday, October 9 to face off against Southwestern Oklahoma State. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in Weatherford.
