An Okolona man faces felony charges after causing a scene at a truck stop and fleeing from law enforcement before crashing into a mailbox.

Clark County prosecutors have charged Frederick Leeper, 58, of 29 Leeper Road, Okolona, for a drunken attempt of fleeing from a detective. In an affidavit filed by Sgt. Rick Loy, criminal investigator for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, a shoeless and intoxicated Leeper was at South Fork Truck Stop, 2066 Highway 53 North, Gurdon, on Sept. 22 when he “urinated on himself” and threw change “all over the bar at the back of the restaurant.”
Deputies responded to the restaurant portion of the truck stop to speak with Leeper, who walked away and got into a vehicle. Leeper was ordered by deputies to exit the vehicle, but he instead “recklessly drove away” and left on Highway 53 at a high rate of speed.
He eventually lost control in a curve, struck a mailbox and crashed on the other side of the highway, according to the affidavit. Leeper was then taken into custody and transported to the Clark County Detention Center.
