Failing to adopt this ordinance will result in the city’s flood management point system dropping, according to a memo from City Manager Gary Brinkley. It would also “remove a large portion of the discount our citizens who purchase flood insurance receive.”
The MLK Park Visioning Committee met in the Town Hall Boardroom on Monday morning for a project overview. Joining the meeting was Dr. Fitz Hill, one of the chief fundraising members tasked with soliciting donations for the park.
“Ouachita has been a part of the Arkadelphia since our founding in 1886, and this is an important investment in our community and our shared future,” said Dr. Ben Sells, Ouachita president.
Community leaders announced intentions Friday to secure $2.5 million in funding to develop the MLK Jr. Memorial Park, located at 15th and Pine streets, the site of the old Clark County Hospital.
