Hail, damaging winds a threat Tuesday; tornado watch extended to early Wednesday AM

6 PM update: A Tornado Watch in effect for Clark County and much of Arkansas has been extended until 1 a.m. Wednesday. Arkansas is under an Enhanced Risk (3/5) for severe weather Tuesday, April 28. The favored severe weather will be hail and damaging winds, though a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock. Late-night thunderstorms leave Gurdon, Prescott in the dark; hail damage in Amity

Pexels photos A series of strong thunderstorms swept across Southwest Arkansas late Saturday, April 25, dumping damaging hail in portions of Clark and Pike counties and causing power outages in a three-county area. Late Saturday night, hail the size of baseballs fell in the Amity area, causing widespread damage to homes and vehicles. Some hail reported in nearby Alpine was even larger.
