This is a roundup of felony charges filed Oct. 2-16, 2026, by the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office. Some defendants may also have misdemeanor charges against them, but most are not included here. The following names and charges, which are contained within public documents, are gathered from online court records available through ARCourts. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Here’s a rundown of felony cases filed in the past two weeks:
Police bust meth distributor at Arkadelphia trailer park
On July 16 Arkadelphia police served a search warrant at Cox Trailer Park, 1319 N. 10th St. #9, the residence of 27-year-old Jerry Wayne Hammonds.
The search yielded 8 bags of methamphetamine, as well as digital scales, several smoking pipes and a loaded firearm.
Read his rights and taken into custody, Hammonds told police he distributes meth.
The meth weighed 56.7 grams. The firearm was located in the “immediate proximity” of the narcotics.
Bond was set at $50,000 during a first court appearance.
Hammonds is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Purpose to Deliver, a Class A felony that carries a potential prison sentence of 6-30 years and/or a fine of up to $15,000, and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, a Class D felony.
Jail visitor leaves pot for prisoner
An Arkadelphia woman is accused of attempting to smuggle marijuana into the Clark County Detention Center.
On Sept. 13 Teresa Rena Arnold, 54, took a Walmart shopping bag with snacks to the jail for prisoner Cordiars Arnold. She gave the bag to a jailer and left the facility.
Jailers searched the bag, noticing that a chip bag appeared to have been resealed. The jailers further inspected the chip bag to find a smaller bag containing marijuana.
An arrest warrant was issued Sept. 16, and police caught up with Arnold on Sept. 24 to make an arrest.
Bond was set at $10,000 during a first court appearance.
The mother of 7 is charged with Furnishing Prohibited Articles, a Class B felony punishable by 5-20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $15,000.
Cordiars Arnold, 35, has since been moved to the Ouachita County Detention Center.
Prisoners damage cell, flood jail
Performing a lockdown of a pod at the Clark County Detention Center, a jailor discovered the locking mechanism on one cell had been covered so that it would not lock.
The prisoners occupying that cell, Charles Leon Smith II, 23, and Kyler Phifer, were then placed on lockdown for the facility violation.
Later that morning, at around 8:25 a.m., another jailor was alerted to a flood happening in the same cell. A plumber was called to make repairs, discovering that the prisoners had torn the wiring to three buttons, broke a solenoid and ripped wires from a control box to allow them to flood the pod.
Smith, of Arkadelphia, has been charged with Criminal Mischief causing less than $25,000 in damages, a Class B felony, and Impairing the Operation of a Vital Public Facility, a Class A misdemeanor.
Walmart customer with trick up his sleeve dupes store out of $1,280 in merch
Instead of swapping price tags, a Hot Springs man found a magician-like way to steal from a big box retailer.
On May 26 Arkadelphia police were called to Walmart for a theft investigation, learning that on May 8 a customer had concealed a barcode in the palm of his hand. The barcode was for an item priced at 96 cents. The customer rang up more than $1,200 worth of merchandise, though a police affidavit doesn’t specify what the customer paid using the lower-priced barcode.
The customer was later identified by Walmart’s asset protection as Carmilo Javon Vannucci, 39, from images taken via its closed-circuit TV system.
An arrest warrant was issued June 2, and police caught up with Vannucci on Aug. 19.
Now 40, he is charged with Theft for Property valued between $1,000-$5,000, a Class D felony.
Bond was set at $15,000 during a first court appearance.
Okolona man makes big stink over bathroom time, beats dad with broom
When you gotta go, you gotta go.
But you can’t hurt someone who’s taking too long in the bathroom.
On Sept. 1 Clark County deputies were called to an Osborne Road residence in Okolona for a domestic disturbance, arriving to learn that Kevin Demond Pollins had allegedly struck his father in the head and leg with a broom stick because he wouldn’t vacate the bathroom when the younger Pollins needed to go.
The father’s knee was bleeding as a result of the attack.
The younger Pollins, 51, had since locked himself in the bathroom and wouldn’t come out soon enough to satisfy officers’ commands. There was a reported struggle at the doorway: one deputy strained to gain entry as Pollins pushed back. Deputies eventually were able to evacuate Pollins from the loo and gain physical control to make an arrest.
Pollins is charged with 2nd-degree Criminal Mischief, which is a Class A misdemeanor.
Bond was set at $40,000 during a first court appearance.
Threats to kill dog, burn down house land man in jail
A Pike County man couldn’t hold his liquor — or his tongue — during an encounter with another man’s dog.
On Sept. 2 Amity police were called to a West Pine Street home for a complaint that Newhope resident Jackie Ray Murphy had threatened to kill the caller’s dog. The threat apparently sparked an argument between the two men, leading Murphy to allegedly threaten to burn the caller’s house down with him inside, adding that he’d “wake up crispy.”
An Amity policeman located Murphy, 52, hiding on the back porch of the house next door. While talking to police, Murphy admitted that he made the threats about the dog because he was drunk and had done “something stupid.” He denied making the statement to the caller.
Bond was set at $20,000 during a first court appearance.
In addition to a misdemeanor public intoxication charge, Murphy is charged with Terroristic Threatening, a Class D felony.
Driver napping at intersection gets arrested for drug charges
A stop sign is no place to take a nap — especially if you’re behind the wheel of a vehicle. A Gurdon man learned this the hard way.
In the pre-dawn hours of Aug. 7 a Gurdon officer located a stationary passenger car at a stop sign at 7th and Walnut streets. Contact was made with the driver, Terry Lawrence Cornish Jr., who was asleep at the wheel with his foot on the brake and the car in drive.
Several attempts to wake Cornish were unsuccessful until the officer “nudged” him with his baton through the sun roof. Cornish, 45, was eventually roused, and as he exited the vehicle he displayed signs of intoxication. Placed in custody, a search of his person revealed two plastic baggies, each containing 3 tablets Cornish identified as ecstasy. While searching the vehicle, two additional bags with pills were located.
The tablets field-tested positive for meth and, combined, weighed less than 2 grams.
Cornish, of Gurdon, is charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, a Class D felony.
Bond was set at $15,000 during a first court appearance.
Seatbelt violation leads to felony drug stop on I-30
On Sept. 27 an Arkansas State Trooper patrolling Interstate 30 made a traffic stop in Clark County on a vehicle whose driver had her seatbelt buckled behind her. The trooper learned that the vehicle had tax that expired in 2022, and that the driver had a suspended license.
The driver was identified as Kristine Durden, 38, of Montgomery, Alabama.
A tow truck was called to the scene to haul away the vehicle, and an inventory check of the SUV led to the discovery of methamphetamine pills located in a bag. The pills would be weighed at 1.1 grams.
Durden was arrested and transported to the Clark County Jail, where she told police she doesn’t use drugs but does buy pills for her boss, adding she could have left some in her car before she gave them to her boss.
Durden is charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, a Class D felony.
Bond was set at $10,000 during a first court appearance.
Home visit of probationer ends in drug arrest
On Aug. 27 drug task force agents accompanied probation officers to conduct a home search on a probationer with a search waiver on file.
While at the Amity home of 45-year-old Glen Wilder Jr., agents searched a vehicle in the yard, locating paraphernalia and a bag of methamphetamine that Wilder claimed ownership of. The drugs weighed right at 2 grams.
Wilder was arrested at the scene.
Wilder is charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, a Class D felony.
Bond was set at $5,000 during a first court appearance on Aug. 31. Bond was posted that day by T-Gard Bail Bonds Inc. of Greers Ferry.
Prosecutors requested forfeiture of Wilder’s bail bond when he failed to show up for a scheduled court date on Oct. 6, and a failure to appear warrant was posted the next day.
Wilder was arrested on Oct. 8 on the new charge, and bond was again set at $5,000 during a first appearance on the new charge.
At a subsequent appearance before Circuit Judge Blake Batson on Oct. 13, bond was modified/revoked and set at $100,000.
Midnight walk by wanted man ends in felony drug arrest
In the pre-dawn hours of Sept. 4 a Clark County deputy patrolling Arkansas Highway 53 noticed a man walking up a driveway toward the road, then turn toward the wood line when he saw the police vehicle.
The deputy spoke with the individual, identified as John David Smith, 49, of Gurdon, and asked what he was doing. Walking home, Smith replied. Smith’s address is less than half a mile from where he ran into the deputy.
Smith’s information was run through dispatch, leading to the discovery that he had warrants in Clark County. Read his rights, Smith was then searched for contraband. In a backpack he was carrying, the deputy found a pair of socks containing 1 gram of meth, as well as pipes and scales.
Smith was charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, a Class D felony.
Bond was set at $3,500 during a first court appearance on Sept. 8, and posted that day by First Arkansas Bail Bonds of Mountain Home.
Prosecutors requested forfeiture of Smith’s bail bond when he failed to show up for a scheduled court date on Oct. 13, and a failure to appear warrant was posted the next day.
At the time of this report, Smith was still at large.
Felony probationer found with gun, drugs
On Sept. 21 drug task force agents went to a Hot Springs Drive residence in Caddo Valley for a compliance check on probationers living in a camper.
Contact was made with two felony probationers, including Jordan Leron Hamilton, 18, and inside the camper where they were staying police located a bag of meth weighing .7 grams and a pipe.
Both individuals were detained, and Hamilton ultimately pointed police in the direction of a loaded pistol belonging to him.
Hamilton was arrested, and is formally charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, both Class D felony offenses.
Bond was set at $60,000 during a first court appearance.
