Nedra May Williams, 95, of Clark County, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 18th, surrounded by her husband and children.
Born on March 23, 1931, in Ouachita County, Arkansas, Nedra was the beloved wife of Silas Adrian Williams. Nedra and Silas were married in 1960 and built a life together centered around family. She graduated from El Dorado High School and later the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Education was an important part of Nedra’s life, and she spent over 19 years teaching in Bryant and Gurdon public schools before retiring in 1995.
Nedra had a wonderful sense of humor that will be impossible to forget. She loved to laugh, tell a good joke and, much to her family’s amusement, tell the same joke again and again to anyone who would listen. She had a competitive streak, especially when it came to a game of shanghai rummy or nertz.
Nedra was an exceptional gardener and took great pride in becoming a certified Master Gardener. She could often be found tending to her plants or sitting on her porch, watching hummingbirds and butterflies flit among the flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Silas Adrian Williams; her sons, Joe Canady (Belinda), Ben Williams (Joanna) and her daughters; Connie Testa and Laura Petrarca. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Family was at the center of Nedra’s life. She was devoted to Silas, cherishing her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nedra was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Mamye Brazeale; her sisters, Cledra Keith and Bessie Nichols; her grandson, Sherrod Williams; and her great-granddaughter, Shelby Dunavant.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. David Graves officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gurdon Public Middle School Library in Nedra Willams’ memory.
