HOT SPRINGS — The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA) recently recognized Callen Johnson, of Gurdon, who participated in ASMSA’s Talent Identification Program (ASMSA-TIP) in 2025-2026 and received the Distinguished Recognition designation for their above-level testing performance.
ASMSA-TIP provides middle-grade students from across Arkansas the opportunity to challenge themselves through above-level testing and enrichment experiences. Students who qualify for Distinguished Recognition have achieved ACT scores that meet or exceed college readiness benchmarks in all four ACT subject areas.
In 2025-2026, ASMSA-TIP served 1,158 sixth- through eighth-grade students and 200 Gifted and Talented educators across the state. Ultimately, more than 700 students submitted ACT scores to ASMSA-TIP, with 60 students qualifying for Distinguished Recognition. Families of recognized students were invited to celebrate their students’ achievements during an in-person recognition ceremony at ASMSA’s campus in Hot Springs on Sept. 12.
