HOLLYWOOD, Arkansas — Crews are battling what appears to be a large wildfire about 12 miles east of Arkadelphia on Friday evening after an Arkansas Forestry Division pilot spotted the fire from the skies over Clark County.
Bulldozer crews from the Forestry Division, as well as volunteers with the Hollywood Fire Department were responded to the scene after 3 p.m. The fire, located about a mile north of Hollywood on Arkansas Highway 53, sent plumes of smoke visible from miles away, including Arkadelphia.
Fortunately, the Clark County Office of Emergency Management says there are no houses in danger with this blaze, which started on a rural pine plantation and had burned 98 acres as of 8:30 p.m.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the fire.
Clark County remains under a burn ban, making outdoor burning a misdemeanor offense.
